Learn to print!

Screen printing is a time-honoured method of printmaking that continues to be relevant because of its ability to adapt to modern techniques and iconography. This is a very hands-on process that involves the entire body and the attention of the mind. Serigraphy 101 will focus on this process and encourage you to create a collection of artworks while exploring the nuances of this form and medium.

The workshop is intensive and will go into depths of image and pattern creation, production value of a screen, introduction to illustration techniques and tips with adjunct faculty Mamta Joseph, studio etiquette and studio habits, focus on product creation and representation of work. The workshop will largely be dedicated to print making but will also include theoretical segments with real world examples of other studios, artists and commercial life of print products.

Mamta Joseph is a self-taught illustrator and an entrepreneur who runs a concept store called Salt ‘n’ Light. Coming from a background in journalism, she has had to leverage her ability to ask questions and use that skill to find effective answers and business solutions to succeed in a venture that she set up in 2012. She sharpened her business skills with a short-term management course at Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B) in 2015 and there has been no looking back ever since!

Joseph's vision is to inspire people through products and services. With themes like faith, love, movies and sports running across her illustrations and merchandise- flanked by quirky yet inspiring messages-- it’s easy to see that vision come to life. “If I can ensure that someone smiles when they see a design or a product that I have made, then I have won!,” says Joseph who is thrilled to be a part of the Anpal community sharing her skills and experience as an adjunct faculty.
