Cantate Domino! is a one-day program in church choral music education featuring faculty with international experience and training. The goal of the seminar is to provide participants access to tools that can be used in choral music training via lectures, hands-on experience and discussion. The sessions will blend the practical and theoretical aspects of choral rehearsal techniques, music history, vocal technique, music theory, sight singing, ear training, and choral conducting.
Anpal Centre for Creative Arts Education is pleased to host prominent musicians and educators Geeve Mathew (Dubai), Dr. Vinita Henson (Bangalore), and Jerry Amaldev (Kochi) as faculty for this edition of the seminar. Geeve MathewGeeve Mathew undertook performance studies in Asian Music from the Asian Institute of Liturgy and Music, Manila, Philippines [1990] and an integrated Masters in Sacred Music and Divinity from Boston Unviersity, Massachusetts, USA with a specialized curriculum in Voice and Conducting [graduated 1996].
Mathew is proficient to teach solo and ensemble instruments like piano, electronic keyboard, violin, guitar, harmonica, accordian, melodica, solo voice, choral voice, and choral conducting and theory of Western Music. As an educator-trainer, Mathew is keen to groom talented individuals and ensembles in building up confidence and personality by helping them to find their voice and develop orchestral skills through inspirational training routine soon to be initiated at CIS. |
Dr. Vinita HensonDr. Henson is the director of the Center for Music Education in Bangalore, and co-founder and director of the Music Education Program at The Bangalore Conservatory. She has been a music educator for more than thirty years, training children's choirs and ensembles, teaching private piano and group keyboard lessons in the US and India. She is a specialist in music-teacher training.
Dr. Henson earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Vanguard University, and her Master of Arts and Doctorate of Musical Arts in Music Education at the University of Southern California. Dr. Henson is on the advisory board and an adjunct faculty member at Anpal Centre for Creative Arts Education. |
Jerry AmaldevJerry Amaldev began singing in church choir at the age of ten. After High School, for a decade, Amaldev was in charge of the seminary choirs in North India. Amaldev became an assistant to Bollywood music director Naushad for five years composing and orchestrating tunes, conducting and recording orchestras in studios for movies such as Dil Diya Dard Liya, Aadmi, Sunghursh, Saathee, Paalkee, Ram aur Shyam and Ganwaar. Amaldev holds a Bachelor of Music from Xavier University of Louisiana, U.S.A and a Master’s in Composition from Cornell Univeristy in Ithaca, New York. On returning to India, he music directed Manjil Virinja Pookkal receiving the Kerala State Award for excellence.

Anjana AbrahamAnjana Abraham is founder and artistic director of Anpal Centre for Creative Arts Education. A choral conductor, singer (mezzo soprano), and educator, she enjoys working with Church, school and community choirs. Abraham has been granted honorary membership of The Association of Croatian Choral Directors, and the honorary title of Maestra Mentor. She has also been invited as adjudicator at international choral competitions. Abraham graduated with a Master of Music in Music Education from The Boston Conservatory (M.M.Ed ’17). Her love for music has taken her on travels to Poland, Russia, Indonesia, Czech Republic, Singapore, Croatia and the U.S.A.
